On to my second quilt...which I actually started cutting strips for and getting prepped last week. Gal on the chair has requested a quilt "just like" the first one...but in "her kind of colors." So we went with another Top Drawer collection filled with chocolates, pinks, and oranges. Definitely her kind of colors! So here we go with another Daisy Chain quilt (pattern from Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott). Sewing individual fabric strips into larger blocks (rectangles? not sure what to call them):
Once that was completed, time to cut each large piece into the strips that will form the squares and set up and ready to go (it's easier for me when it's all spread out in one general location...so I can just grab and go):
and today I reached the halfway mark and got 12 of these squares completed...only 12 more to go before time to start assembling the quilt top!
I only work about an hour or so in the evenings during the week...the majority of my sewing gets done on the weekends...with the TV tuned to something that makes good background noise! This weekend it will be basketball!

I DID IT!
As of 5:30 pm yesterday...I MADE A QUILT!!! WOOOHOOO! So...here is a little bit of the details...this is not my first attempt...my first attempt (started back on March 4th) did not work out...something about not really understanding the seam thing...(which i'm still working on!)....but on March 18th...I started with this (Fabrics by Top Drawer):
and on March 27th...I ended with this (the dog is as stunned as I!):
Front/Top
Back (I'll tell you the story of the pieced backing some other time)
I used this book (Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott):
In particular the Daisy Chain pattern found on p. 63 (Daisy! how perfect! Definitely have the daisy theme rolling now!) (I may just be losing my mind...)
With a little help from my oh so cute quilt hanger/holder/the gal on the chair:
The quilt is now in the wash...had to take a bunch of pics just in case it doesn't survive. I'll let you know! And now...I'm on to this:
(The above is the start of a quilt for girl on the chair).
And now...I'm left to say...WOOOHOOO! (and only one sliced finger and a few (minor) burns from the iron later!) Maybe I CAN quilt!!!

and so it begins...
Well...the actual "adventure" in quilting began a few weeks ago...but I have taken so many pictures, and have so many funny stories about this journey...that I decided to create a blog specifically for the "adventures of a beginning quilter." I really didn't want my scrappy/stampy blog to get lost in all the fabric chat...so I decided (actually hubby encouraged) I go ahead and have a quilt blog...so Quilt-a-Daisy is born. (I was very lucky that blogger had that title still available...goes so well with Scrap-a-Daisy...don't ya think???)
Anywho...this is just the initial post to kick off the blog...more later...much more!
