Sisters' Ten BOM - February

Yes, I know it's May.  I'm a little behind on some BOMs, so I did a tiny bit of catching up and worked on my Sisters' Ten blocks for February:

Loved this block, very quick to put together, and I love how the centers turned out with minimal effort in the fussy cut department!

Now I only have 3 more months worth to catch up...

Just keep rolling...

So far so good, I'm really making progress and getting some things cleaned up on my stitchy Saturday!

As I'm still (mostly) avoiding cutting fabric today, I pulled my HST BOM rows out and the sashing strips I had previously made for them, and got them all put together!

Now, this HST BOM was a 2012 BOM...and its' still not anywhere near complete...but now I sorta have a quilt top!  The original pattern calls for adding a border, and I think that would be a good idea, now I just have to figure out fabric  (and for the backing and the binding...but border first).  I may have enough of one of the FMF prints to use as the border...but that would require me to pull it out, measure for the borders, measure the fabric...and right now, that's right up there with cutting in my mind!  I'll spend time on it another day.

Once I got that done...and took a break to go running with Guy and eat dinner and stuff...I actually cut some fabric.  But not any serious cutting mind you...I put together the quilt back for my Layers of Good Fortune quilt (last seen over here).  So I technically, I cut some fabric.  But it was one slice...and done!

I spray baste my quilts, it's just much easier for me, saves me time, and it works.  However, once I get them basted, I have to let them "air out" for a little while, so I don't have fresh fumes up in my face as I start quilting.  So now my love seat is bedecked with a quilt sandwich:

And I may start quilting it tonight.

Sisters' Ten BOM - January

After much hemming and hawing...and staring at the lovely Sisters' Ten BOM January blocks that have been popping into the flickr group...I finally got down to putting my blocks together!

I have to admit...block 2 is my favorite...but when I put them together:

block 1 has some things going on that I really like also!  And I love how different the two blocks are, even though it's the same pattern for each!  I'm very excited to see how this all turns out in the end!  Can't wait for February!

a little Sunday stitching...

after returning home yesterday...I was so happy to just sit behind my machine for a bit and relax.  I put away Rainbow Star (needed a break from the quilting, it's a big quilt to be wrestling about!), and pulled out my HST BOM blocks and got to work on finishing the last two blocks.

Since I was chain piecing the above blocks, I took the opportunity to make my leader/ender pieces my Shake n' Bake 2 blocks, so I got some piecing done with those:

and since I really needed something else to do...I started a new quilt, using a Good Fortune (Kate Spain) Layer Cake I had buried in my stash.

and now I'm off to do a bit more stitching...I'll be back later today with a final look at my 2012 goals!

Planning

and recovery.  That's what this week is about.  Recovery from the mad dash of Christmas (which was absolutely lovely!  had a wonderful Christmas day!)...and planning for what happens next.  After the mad rush to finish so many gifts...I'm itching to get going again!  I was unable to finish Rainbow Star, so I've been doing some quilting on it, a few minutes here...a few there.  And I really want to finish up the HST BOM quilt...and there is a new rainbow quilt I want to start...but nothing has really kicked me into gear just yet.  and then I saw this...

and oh yeah...I'm in!  and I just so happen to have some yummy Joel Dewberry Notting Hill fabric just waiting to be cut up into something!  Let the planning begin...as in figure out a plan to get everything done I want done before 2012 ends...and start planning how I want to kick off my 2013!

FNSI...the results!

I got a bit of stuff done last night for Friday Night Sew In, and I'm really pleased!  Part of what I worked on was for a Christmas gift for someone...and the other...well, it was for me!  To accompany my Scrappy Stash QAL Rainbow quilt...I've been working on the Rainbow Strings quilt...and I have had all of the individual blocks done since November 4th...but I had only pulled the paper off a few and sewn the larger blocks together on a few...well...last night I got all the big blocks sewn together (and paper removed...worst part!) except for one (brown), and here they all are (I sewed them into rows today):

And because I've been in serious love with both of the rainbow quilts...and they are both designated for others...I made myself a little (16x16 so not tiny) rainbow for myself yesterday:

I love this pillow...it sits in my spot on the couch (or in my lap) and no one else is allowed to use it...where I can see them at least!

and the last bit that I finished up last night was the October HST BOM!

Only November left to get all caught up!  And then all that's left is the December block...which will be out soon...HOW IN THE WORLD IS IT ALREADY THAT LATE IN THE YEAR????  ack!  too much to do...and already...too little time!  See ya!

Monday: worked on new bag...and if I had paid ANY attention when I purchased the necessary supplies, I might actually have a finished project to show!  So instead...the bits and pieces that I have gotten done:

Anywho...another 6 of 7 and loving every minute!  My fall fever continues a little, but I'm liking the directions it is taking me; I'm enjoying branching out and trying new things. Still need to get the rainbow quilts done before Christmas though!  And if the new bag works out...then I'll be making a few more as Christmas presents (BONUS!!).  I'll be back later this week with a book/pattern review!

It's been a busy stitchy week!  I spent most of the past week's designated 15 minutes picking fabric and getting a few blocks done for my version of the In Color Order HST BOM!

15 minute challenge...week 10&11 (a few days late)

So I finally got Goldie back...and got a bit of stitching done...so it's time to recap what I've done over the past two weeks and link up at Life in Pieces...I won't be breaking it down by day...let's just say some days I sewed, some days I didn't!  But what I can do...is share some pics!

1.  Pieced together the Christmas quilt top. (Pictures are here, no need to post the same pic multiple times!)

2.  Got the September block done for the FQS 2012 Designer Mystery BOM.

3.  Got the May and June blocks done for the HST BOM over at In Color Order.  Well what I really did was get May done, and June HSTs done...finished putting the June block together today!  (counts towards my week 12 15 mins a day!)

and now...I still have almost 6 hours before my Longhorns play...so time do some more sewing!

FNSI...the results!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!  I only got a little bit of sewing done on Friday as part of Friday Night Sew In...we had a big day ahead on Saturday so I couldn't stay up as late as I normally would have tried!  Anyways...here is what I was able to get accomplished:

1: purchased fabric earlier in the day to go with my Christmas quilt:

the black and green are from Share the Joy by Deb Strain, the cream is from Christmas Spirit by Holly Taylor.

2: pieced together my disappearing 9-patch blocks for my Christmas quilt (which I am now thinking I might want to make a few more 9-patches to increase the overall size...I don't want it to be ALL borders!):

The fabric is Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater, and I have a couple of fat quarters from this line that I may go ahead and cut into charms and piece a few more blocks.

3: cut all the fabric and did a tiny bit of piecing (1/2 the red blocks) for the September block in the FQS 2012 Mystery BOM. (the rest of the sewing on this block is what I did on Saturday night).

Getting Fancy on Sunday!

As in Flea Market Fancy!  Ok...going way back to this post...I gathered up the fabric...and then it sat...and sat...and I didn't want to cut into any of it!  It's too PRECIOUS!  LOL!

And then I decided I needed a new project (oh how foolish of me...).  I have been following Jeni's blog In Color Order for a while now...in particular her HST Block of the Month tutorials.  So...I woke up this morning...and decided that I really wanted to try the blocks...and why not go ahead and cut into the Flea Market Fancy!

and so far I'm really enjoying these blocks!  I already have the fabrics selected for the April block...so I should be getting to that tomorrow!  (if I don't just buckle down and get my Swoon top finished!!!)

15 minute challenge...week 5

This should totally be week 9 or 10...but life is what happens when you'd rather be sewing!  So, I'll keep it as week 5!

Tuesday - Friday: nothing (again...life)

but then I jumped full in!

Saturday: block 2 of the FQS 2012 Designer Mystery BOM, bound this quilt, and got the urge to finish up a UFO, so I pieced the back and started quilting this quilt:

it's a very random, completely "go with the wind" FMQ...Girl LOVES it!  Now all I have left is to bind!

Sunday: finished block 3 of the FQS Designer Mystery BOM!

Monday: started the sashing on my Terrain Swoon!  (bout time!)

Feeling so good to be back in the sewing swing of things!  One thing I did this weekend that I found very helpful...I have a short attention span, and I hate rethreading my machine (not that it's difficult, just puts a stop to things!)...so I kept sewing on something that went with whatever thread was already in my machine...kept me interested because I'd finish up a piece of one thing (BOM), and then move to a different project (Terrain Swoon) because the thread matched!

Woohoo!  Got a lot of sewing accomplished over the weekend!  Sharing just a bit with you today, and the rest tomorrow!

First up, got block 2 done (finally) of the 2012 Designer Mystery BOM by Fat Quarter Shop:

I like the block...not my fave...but I do like it!

and then, because it arrived on Friday...I got block 3 done!

and because I FINALLY...and I mean FINALLY got this quilt bound...I have a FINISH!!

Well, I didn't sew every day...and not even the majority of the days...but I did sew at least two of the days! I am linking up over at Life in Pieces.

Wednesday: One block for the T-shirt Quilt (right at about 15 minutes)

Saturday: Block 1 of the FQS 2012 Designer Mystery BOM (much longer than 15 minutes; would have been a bit shorter but I screwed up a few pieces and had to start over)

Now...what did I do the other days of the week?  Worked.  A lot.  On night shift.  But that's not much of an excuse, considering I had ample opportunity when I was home to take just a few minutes to sit down and sew something.  So hopefully I get a little more done this week.
